18+ Service
Chismis is intended only for adults age 18 and older. Before using account features, verified users must confirm that they are at least 18 years old.
Chismis is not designed for children or minors. Users must not knowingly involve minors in unsafe, sexual, exploitative, threatening, or inappropriate content or conversations.
Community Guidelines
Chismis is an alias-based local community platform for sharing conversations, observations, experiences, and local information. Using an alias does not give anyone permission to harm, expose, harass, intimidate, or unlawfully target another person.
Do not post, request, encourage, or distribute content that includes:
- Real names or information intended to identify a private individual when identification could expose, embarrass, threaten, or endanger them.
- Exact home addresses, private phone numbers, personal email addresses, account credentials, government identification numbers, or other sensitive personal information.
- Harassment, bullying, stalking, intimidation, extortion, threats, or encouragement of violence.
- Sexual exploitation, sexual content involving minors, grooming, or content that endangers children.
- Non-consensual intimate content or sexual content intended to humiliate another person.
- Fraud, scams, impersonation, deceptive schemes, illegal sales, or content intended to facilitate unlawful activity.
- Serious unsupported accusations involving criminal conduct, abuse, medical conditions, sexual conduct, or other highly sensitive matters about identifiable real people.
- Hate, dehumanizing attacks, or targeted abuse based on protected characteristics.
- Spam, malicious links, malware, coordinated manipulation, or attempts to disrupt Chismis.
- Content that infringes another person's intellectual property, privacy, or other legal rights.
Chismis may use automated systems and human moderation to prevent, detect, review, restrict, or remove content that violates these rules.
Repeated or serious violations may result in warnings, content removal, feature restrictions, account suspension, or permanent account termination.
Aliases & Anonymous Participation
Your Chismis alias is your public identity on the service. Your verified email address is not displayed publicly with your posts, comments, reactions, or public profile.
An alias protects your public identity from other users, but it does not make activity completely untraceable to Chismis. Account and technical information may be retained or reviewed when reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, moderation, abuse prevention, or legal compliance.
Chismis must not be used for anonymous harassment, anonymous threats, coordinated abuse, stalking, or targeting real people.
Terms of Use
Before using account features, verified users must accept these Terms of Use and the Community Guidelines.
You are responsible for the content you submit and for how you use Chismis.
You agree not to use Chismis to harm, intimidate, expose, defraud, stalk, impersonate, threaten, exploit, or unlawfully target another person.
You must not attempt to bypass moderation systems, evade account enforcement, access another person's account, interfere with the service, scrape restricted information, distribute malicious software, or misuse private information obtained through Chismis.
Chismis may moderate, restrict, remove, preserve, or disclose information when reasonably necessary to:
- enforce these Terms and Community Guidelines;
- protect users or the public;
- prevent fraud, abuse, or security incidents;
- investigate reports or safety concerns;
- comply with applicable law or valid legal process; or
- maintain the integrity and operation of the service.
Chismis does not guarantee that statements made by users are accurate, complete, verified, or reliable.
Reporting, Blocking & Moderation
If you encounter unsafe or prohibited content, use the Report option associated with the relevant post, comment, message, or user whenever available.
Where blocking functionality is available, users may block another user to prevent or reduce further direct interaction.
Reports must be submitted honestly. False, abusive, or retaliatory reporting may itself result in enforcement action.
Chismis may prioritize reports involving threats, child safety, doxxing, stalking, sexual exploitation, fraud, impersonation, or immediate safety risks.
Private Messages
Private messages are not displayed publicly.
Private messages may be reviewed when they are reported or when reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, abuse investigation, moderation, legal compliance, or protection of users.
Do not share passwords, verification codes, banking credentials, government identification numbers, or other highly sensitive information through Chismis messages.
Privacy
Your verified email address is kept private from the public.
Depending on the features you use, Chismis may process information such as:
- your verified email address;
- your public alias and public user identifier;
- posts, comments, reactions, reports, and messages;
- your selected browsing or posting location;
- login, session, device, browser, network, IP, security, and abuse-prevention information;
- advertising or business inquiry information voluntarily submitted to Chismis; and
- records reasonably necessary for moderation, security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or dispute resolution.
Public aliases, posts, comments, reactions, and other public interactions may be visible to other users.
Chismis may use third-party service providers to operate features such as hosting, databases, email verification, security, payments, notifications, analytics, or similar infrastructure. Those providers may process information only as necessary to provide those services and subject to applicable agreements and privacy requirements.
Location Information
Chismis allows users to browse and post according to geographic areas such as Country, Region, Province, City / Municipality, and Barangay.
Normal browsing does not require precise GPS or device location.
If a future feature requests approximate or precise device location, Chismis will explain why the permission is requested and, where practical, provide a manual alternative.
Account & Data Deletion
Users can permanently delete their Chismis account and associated identifying account data from the Account Hub or from the public Account & Data Deletion page.
Public web deletion requires verification of the email address associated with the Chismis account. Account deletion is separate from logging out, suspending an account, or disabling access.
When an account is deleted, Chismis removes or de-identifies identifying account information and authored content. Limited non-identifying records may be retained where reasonably necessary to preserve other users' content, prevent fraud or abuse, maintain security, resolve disputes, comply with legal obligations, or protect the integrity of the service.
Account Security
Keep verification codes, passwords, and account credentials private.
You are responsible for maintaining control of the email account used to access Chismis.
If you believe your account has been compromised or used without authorization, contact Chismis Support as soon as possible.
Intellectual Property
Only submit material that you have the right to share.
Do not post copyrighted, trademarked, confidential, private, or proprietary material in violation of another person's rights.
Chismis intends to provide a process for rights holders or authorized representatives to report alleged infringement.
Advertising & Sponsored Content
Sponsored posts, business profiles, events, job listings, and other paid promotions should be clearly distinguishable from ordinary user-generated content.
Payment does not exempt advertising content from Community Guidelines, fraud prevention, moderation, or other Chismis policies.
Advertisers are responsible for the accuracy and legality of claims, offers, products, services, jobs, and promotions they submit.
Enforcement
Depending on the circumstances, Chismis may:
- remove or limit content;
- issue warnings;
- temporarily restrict posting, commenting, messaging, or other features;
- suspend an account;
- permanently terminate an account; or
- preserve relevant records for safety, security, fraud prevention, or legal purposes.
Serious safety violations may result in immediate action without a prior warning.
Appeals
Users whose accounts are suspended may submit an appeal after verifying their account. Appeals are reviewed by Chismis administrators and may be marked Open, Reviewing, Approved, or Denied.
If an appeal is approved, the suspended account may be reactivated. Submitting an appeal does not guarantee reversal of an enforcement action.
Support & Contact
Users can contact Chismis through the Help & Support form for safety, privacy, account, legal, and technical concerns.
Support submissions are private and are not displayed publicly. Users may optionally provide a reply email if they want a response by email.
Changes to These Policies
Chismis may update these Terms, Privacy practices, and Community Guidelines as the service evolves, laws change, or new features are introduced.
Material changes may be communicated to users when appropriate. Continued use of Chismis after an effective policy update may constitute acceptance where permitted by applicable law.
Platform Availability
Chismis is being designed for the web, Android, and iOS. Features may vary slightly by platform while maintaining the same core privacy, safety, moderation, and account protections.
